Hello! I am writing to get an opinion on my hair. My general doctor and hair specialist told me that I have no hair loss. (DHT normal/no hair fallout) When my hair was damaged by the sun and water in another country, I discovered the "cowlick." I went on Finasteride and Nizoral shampoo for 8 months (stopped one month ago and no new hair fallout), but I did not experience any new hair growth; I simply needed to let my hair grow and cut off damaged ends. Now it has returned to completely normal, healthy hair. However, I am worried that my "cowlick" is actually the beginning stages of hair loss. I have no hair loss on my temples; my mother's father, my mother, and my uncle have similar, thick hair. My mother and both grandmothers have similar cowlicks. Normally I part my hair on the other side of my head and brush and blow-dry my hair down and through the cowlick to make it disappear. Do the pictures on my profile look like hair loss? Should I continue finasteride?
Hyperandrogenecity: Hey Spec really hopeful tha you recieve this: have u evr heard of this condition as a side effect of propecia: for 4 years i have attended a hair clinic using, viviscal, minoxidol, laser with no positive outcome, The main problem thou was the propecia, for the period of around six months that i used i had very bad sheds ( around 5 times as much hair loss than without it), but on top of this my head got really itchy and very oily, the consultant said he'd never heard of this before and brushed it under the carpet, I stopped the propecia, but then went back on it a few months later as i couldnt deal with the hair loss, but agan the same issue happened, i then gave up. I then came across the term hyperandrogenecity
1. Have you ever heard of this term and came across anybody who has suffered the same as me with this?
2. Will this condition occur if i try any finisteride
3. Is there anything else that i could use instead of propecia that works?
Over the past three years or so I've been contemplating whether I should go through with a HT. I have visited many of the forums/messageboards as a lurker, just to read and see some of the transformations that people have gone through. I've seen some outstanding work performed by some of the Doctors, and I've also seen some horrendous work.
Last year, I actually scheduled an FUT procedure with Dr. Feller, but then backed out on the day of the procedure. I ended up psyching myself out, and I've since regretted it.
Now, the reason I contacted you is, how can I mentally prepare myself so if I give it another shot that I don't psych myself out?
Thank you in advance for reading my story, and of course any advice or tips that you can offer.
Spex, what do you think would happen if I stop taking finasteride 1.25 after 4 years of using it everyday, and switch to 0.5mg of dutasteride? I'm talking as in results-wise, would I lose any hair?
Hi Spex,
About 2 years ago I had a transplant (2,500 grafts) and am pleased with the result--however, because I can't tolerate fin I have continued to thin out to the point where I am considering shaving it all off. The only thing stopping me is the scar. I can't yet tell how bad it is but I imagine it will need some degree of removal. I was searching for SMP scar removal videos and saw one with you in it. I live in Austria and was hoping you could suggest some places in Europe where this procedure is done well? Also, I am looking for something permanent. I saw in your video that the procedure must be redone every two years. Is this correct?
Maaan, that was fast Spex!! It is totally addictive isn't it??
WW! That was so intense! I can't bloody wait till the final half! I wonder what is going to happen, things might get messy!
