Wikipedia brazenly links early Male Pattern Balding to Metabolic Syndrome. However Metabolic Syndrome is supposedly caused by improper nutrition, mostly lack of omega 3 and high caloric and base sugar intake.

if this is true, then someone whose diet has always consisted almost entirely of fruits, vegetables, fatty fish, nuts and lean meats should not experience MPB in their early twenties.

Does any such person frequent the forums yet has had early MPB?

In theory vegans and vegetarians should also qualify, but recent studies hint at wheat and grains being the main cause of insulin resistance and thus obesity and Metabolic Syndrome.

I'm a 30 yr old male with moderately low testosterone levels and have begun taking some natural supplements to boost them. However, I have read that higher testosterone and dht levels often accelerate a person's MPB. My hair loss is not very pronounced yet but I notice a receding hairline and generally very thin hair everywhere except the sides (looks like the outline for future MPB to me). If I want to continue using these supplements and also try to maintain my hair would topical DHT blockers be the best bet? If so which ones should I consider trying? Also do topical DHT blockers block the effects of DHT on the scalp only or do they have the effect of blocking DHT in the body as a whole? Thanks very much for any help/feedback!

So I'm at month four of treatment now. Hair is thicker than it's been in a long time, and I'm no longer worried about hairloss (nor will I be if my treatment ends up not working or stops). I'm gonna bid you guys farewell for now, since I don't really need to visit these forums anymore and I have a life that I need to get back to. I'm setting my phone's calendar to remind me to post again in one year to update y'all on my progress.

*group hug* Goodbye for now guys. I wish you all success in life and hair growth, and may we all someday walk with our non-balding heads held high. :D

Hi guys,

I am fairly young and have been reading these forums for quite sometime (3 years) it wasn't until very recently that I decided to step up to the plate and go for the FUT (strip) HT.

After reading reviews and recommendations, it seemed like Dr. Rahal would be the best choice for my hairline as I wanted to have density and for my hair not to have a "pluggy" look like some HTs, for this reason I decided to book my treatment in Canada with Dr. Rahal instead of a local HT IAHRS surgeon.

I am 4 weeks shy of my mid June appointment for 2,800 grafts and I wanted to get some tips for taking care of my hair before and after the HT is complete. I skimmed over the pre/post op procedures emailed to me after making the appointment so I have an idea of what to expect.

I am looking for a few tips in the following areas although feel free to chime in additional stuff to help me out:

1) Scalp exercises - going to be honest and say I may forget here and there to do it twice daily for a month (15 minutes a session). Any downside of not doing these or any tips?

2) After FUT caring/touching of hairline - I should try to avoid touching my recently implanted area as well as donor area, any tips to avoid any rashes or "the need to scratch my head"?
- Also how well did you manage to avoid water hitting your scalp? I only have a shower at home, so its going to be a bit tough to avoid water hitting my scalp.

3) Wearing hats, any recommendations here?

4) Having a haircut or ask Rahal to trim my sides to a military cut so that I don't have to worry about the barber for 2-3 months or OK to go get a haircut later after HT?

5) Any tips for sleeping, maybe dealing with discomfort?

Thanks guys!! I shall join you soon

Just a note for Spex and Dr Feller to say thanks for their advice today at the consultations in London.

I loved Dr Feller's first remark, "you're just a kid!", but beneath the "illusion" created by the way I style my hair, I was recommended 2000 grafts in the front.

I was impressed by the fact I didn't feel pressured or like they were pushing me into making any kind of decision. These are two very ethical guys that do need to make a "sale", because their work sells itself.

I took my Dad down as well and he had the same impression. He was also impressed by Spex's hair to the extent he had doubts it was actually a transplant at all. I assured him the proof was all online!

Now I have much thinking to do before I decide on any course of action.

Thank you again.

Dr. Mwamba - BHT 303 beard to beard 2 years

This patient was a Norwood 6 who already had a surgery with the “less is more” technique to fill the top. His goal was to lower his hair line.
Then the patient asked us if we could also transplant his beard on a patchy spot on his cheek that was bothering him. We told him it was possible as it was a transfer in the same area (beard to beard) similar to hair transplant (scalp hair to scalp hair).
Interestingly, the patient reported that beard hair didn't shed in the post op as we observed in scalp hairs. We need to compare with others patient's testimony to see if this is an exception or the rule!
And 2 years and 8 months later the patient kept the same results as shown in the following pictures:

During his last visit, the patient came for a big BHT session (beard and chest) to cover the vertex. He took the opportunity to do another BHT to BHT session (beard to beard) and we wanted to illustrate this procedure with close up pictures of the donor and the recipient area.

In summary, we just want to say that transfer of hairs from the same area seems produce better results than hairs coming from different sources in the body. This is because the first element into play is the naturalness produced by those hairs matching together. Also, we do not need high density to produce great coverage which depends on factors such as: (1) Hair caliber, (2) Hair color or pigmentation, (3) hair angulation, and (4) of course hair density.

In our patient case, the beard was coarse, a mixture of dark brown and red , implanted at flat angle (0 to 5 degree) from the skin, at low density. And the results are in the following pictures:

Its been 1 week since my first H.T 1500 grafts strip method. recovery of the grafts seems to be going well, no real bleeding at all (guessing is a good sign). However, I've noticed that the scalp above the donor scar felt a bit thin on the ground, so i took a pic and to my surprise a load of hair seems to be gone from a place where i've usually had loads of it!? i've read about shedding from around the site that receives the grafts that eventually grow back, but is it to be expected from around the scar too? i've added a pic so you can see. If anyone has had a similar experience or knows anything about it would be grateful for some input,
thanks

I often hear that new treatments won't work on NW7 scalps. I myself am not that, but even if my hairloss is much more forgiving in the future than it's been in the last few years, I could be by the time treatments arrive. So I'm wondering what the difference is between follicles on a slick bald scalp and particular follicles that don't grow hair on thinned scalps.

Now, I don't want people coming in here saying they're sure future treatments will cure all NW levels, anymore than I want to read someone's argument about why we'll all be bald forevermore. Just science, please. No guessing, only evidence based claims. Citations if possible. What is the difference between those follicles.

Anyone know?
